Chimes (Tubular Bells)

By using only the highest quality heavy wall solid brass tubes and state of the art tuning methods, Ross Chimes are among the best in the world. Fitted with an all brass cap, each tube is hand tuned for precise harmonics throughout the entire range. Oversized casters are attached to an attractive cast frame with open damper box. Ross chimes are available with tubes finished in clear lacquer for a bright rich sound or chrome plated for a darker more mellow tone that blends well with orchestras. Tubes are available in 1 1/2" diameter for optimal projection or 1 1/4" diameter for lighter weight and easy transport. The Ross Grand Symphony Chimes feature an extended range of 20 tubes, ideally suited for symphonic literature or advanced wind ensemble literature. A rawhide mallet and cover are standard items.

RUF Field Chimes

The continued development and use of concert percussion instruments in the "pit" ensemble has necessitated the development of truly field-worthy mallet percussion instruments. The Ross RUF line of instruments represents a complete line of rugged outdoor instruments that are equally as appropriate for indoor stage and concert use.

Equally widespread in growth and acceptance is the use of dedicated concert instruments and dedicated marching instruments. Almost passé are the convertible over-the-shoulder model marching brass instruments. Band directors have recognized the performance advantages in acquiring and using marching instruments and concert instruments.

Ross continues as the leader in providing value; and with the introduction of the RU5500 Field Chimes, Ross enables this same concept of dual instrumentation and specific application to be applied to chimes. Band directors can obtain a set of Ross Chimes for concert use and a set of Ross Field Chimes for marching use at a lower cost than most brands’ single set of chimes.
